CLASS OF 2017 SCHOLARSHIPS
 Congratulations to members of the Class of 2017
in earning $384,300.00 in scholarships!
 
John Bonfini was awarded an academic scholarship in the amount of $2000 per year for four years to Father Judge High School.

Caleigh Bristow was awarded the Trustees’ Scholarship in the amount of $4000 per year for four years to attend Nazareth Academy High School.

Courtney Bristow was awarded the Trustees’ Scholarship in the amount of $4000 per year for four years to attend Nazareth Academy High School.
 
Joan Dotchel was awarded an $8000 academic scholarship per year for four years to Nazareth Academy High School. Joan was awarded a $10,000 academic scholarship per year for four years to Villa Joseph Marie High School. Joan was the recipient of the Basilian Founders Full Scholarship per year for four years to attend St. Basil’s Academy.
 
Angela Farinella was selected as the recipient of the 2017 Mother Maria Kaupas Scholarship in the amount of $1000 to attend Villa Josephs Marie High School.
 
Brynn Lynch was awarded an academic scholarship in the amount of $9000 per year for four years to Nazareth Academy High School. Brynn was awarded an academic scholarship in the amount of $5000 per year for four years to Villa Joseph Marie High School. Brynn received the Fontbonne Scholarship at Mount St. Joseph Academy in the amount of $5000 per year for four years.
 
Gavin McGuigan was awarded a $16000 scholarship per year for four years to attend Holy Ghost Preparatory School and a $1500 scholarship per year for four years to Conwell Egan Catholic.
 
Anthony Mongeluzi IV was awarded the Cahillite Scholarship, a four year $1000 award to attend Roman Catholic High School and a $5000 scholarship to Holy Ghost Preparatory School.
 
Patrick O’Neill Jr was given the Principal’s Scholarship in the amount of $3000 per year for four years to attend Roman Catholic High School.
 
Courtney Schwegler was awarded an Archbishop Ryan academic scholarship in the amount of $2500 per year for four years. Nazareth Academy High School awarded Courtney the Trustees’ Scholarship in the amount of $3500 per year for four years. Courtney was awarded a $4500 scholarship to St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls per year for four years.
 
Allyson Wolfe is the recipient of a Villa Joseph Marie High School Instrumental Music Scholarship in the amount of $2000 per year for four years.
 
Darian Wood was awarded The Blessed Frances Siedliska Community Service Scholarship to attend Nazareth Academy High School. The award is a $1000 scholarship per year for four years.
 
Lauren Yost was given a Legacy Scholarship to attend St. Basil’s Academy in the amount of $1000 per year for four years.
 
Courtney Schwegler was presented with a $900 scholarship from the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  
 
 
S P E C I A L   A W A R D S  
 
The Nazareth Academy Grade School Parent Association awards a grant to two graduates who have achieved the highest and second highest grade point average through sixth, seventh and the first two trimesters of eighth grade. This grant valued at $500 will be paid directly to the high schools that the students will attend. The 2017 recipients of these grants are: Joan Dotchel and Morgan Lewis

3. To be eligible for the President’s Award for Academic Excellence students must maintain a grade point average of 90 or above in grades 6, 7, and 8th grade, as well as high achievement in the areas of reading and mathematics in the 6th and 7th grade Terra Nova tests. The students who merit this award are: Liam Barnes, John Bonfini, Caleigh Bristow, Courtney Bristow, Malia Cipolloni, Emma Cusano, Joan Dotchel, Morgan Lewis, Brynn Lynch, Gavin McGuigan, Anthony Mongeluzi IV, Patrick O’Neill Jr, Courtney Schwegler, Darian Wood, and Lauren Yost

4. The Nazareth Academy Grade School Academic Excellence Award is presented to those students who have maintained an average of 94% or above as an average in their 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years as well as high achievement in the areas of reading and mathematics in the 6th and 7th grade Terra Nova tests. These students are: Caleigh Bristow, Courtney Bristow, Emma Cusano, Joan Dotchel, Morgan Lewis, Brynn Lynch, Courtney Schwegler, and Lauren Yost

5. The Sister M. Celeste Memorial Scholarship is presented to a student who, like Sr. Celeste, demonstrates outstanding leadership skills, takes pride in her work and appearance, and possesses a love for reading and learning. The Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School is pleased to present this scholarship in memory of Sister Celeste to Brynn Lynch

6. The Principal’s Award is given to a graduate who consistently utilizes leadership and talent in service to the school. I am pleased to present this award to John Bonfini

7. Frances Siedliska, Foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, was a woman of deep faith, untiring service, and heartfelt Christian charity. In recognition for the consistent witness to the true spirit of Christian service, the Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd Award is presented to Caleigh Bristow, Courtney Bristow, Stephanie Kim, and Shawn Trush

8. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania honors two students from the graduating class of 2017 for their scholastic excellence and their commendable community service. These students are Angela Farinella and Darian Wood

9. The Citizenship Award is given by the school to students who display an understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility, possess strength of character and the courage to do what is right, show a positive attitude toward classmates, school, and community, and engage in community service. The Citizenship Award is presented to Gavin L. McGuigan and Courtney Nicole Schwegler

10. In keeping with the tradition of awarding students for determination and joyous spirits,The Nazareth Academy Faculty, presents gift cards to two students in the Class of 2017 to reward achievements made throughout their grade school education. The students who have been chosen for this award are Isabella Aleman and Patrick O’Neill Jr

11. The Ali Award, in memory of Alexandra Duzinski, '95, is sponsored by the Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School to a student who exhibits the zest for life that Ali had during her short time among us. This award is presented to Aidan Lozada

12. The Phillip P. Gaughan Memorial Award is sponsored each year by Mrs. Mary Gaughan in memory of her husband, Philip. This award is given to the student who best displays a kind, conscientious attitude toward peers. This award is presented to Emma Cusano

13. The Grace Stinson Memorial Award is sponsored each year by Mrs. Kathleen Culp in memory of her mother, Grace. This award is given to a student who possesses the qualities that defined Mrs. Stinson’s life, namely her straightforwardness and fortitude. This honor is given to Morgan Lewis

14. The Jennifer Culp Roman Memorial Award is sponsored by Jennifer’s sisters, Maggy, Kate, and Emily in memory of their sister. Jennifer was a daughter, sister, mother and friend whose deep faith, great courage, unwavering love, and unrelenting willpower enabled her to succeed in school as well as have a profound effect on all those whose lives she touched. This award is given to a student who emulates those distinctive qualities of Jennifer. This award is given to Courtney Bristow

15. The Make a Difference Award is sponsored by the Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School in memory of Susan Toto, a woman who made a difference in lives of many by her selfless giving. This award is offered to a student who, through service, dedication, commitment, and attitude has made a difference in our Nazareth school community. This award is presented to Courtney Nicole Schwegler

16. The Sara LaSalle-Tarantin Memorial Award is sponsored by Mr. Jack Tarantin in memory of his wife, Sara. This award is given to a former student of Alpha House whose strength of character emulates Mrs. LaSalle-Tarantin who gave witness to: ideals of kindness, patience, understanding and acceptance of others. The recipient of this award is Liam Barnes

17. The Father Bob Votta Memorial Award for Excellence in Spanish is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drennen and is presented to a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in the study of the Spanish language and culture. This year the Award is presented to Morgan Lewis

18. The Believe in Yourself Performing Arts Award is sponsored by Miss Madeline Pontarelli Class of 2012. It is given to a student who gives their all in the school plays despite peer pressure and other obstacles. This award was presented to Darian Wood

19. The Kathleen Smith Memorial Award for Excellence in Forensics is being sponsored this year by Mr. and Mrs. Henri Marcel in honor of Mrs. Kathleen Smith, a woman who was devoted to education, believed in each of her students, and nurtured a love for public speaking.  This year's recipient: Brynn Lynch

20. Jennifer Gampico Memorial Award for a student who excels in science, arts or leadershipThe Jennifer Gampico (Class of 1987) Memorial Award is given to a student who displays leadership qualities and excels in Science and the Arts. We recognize the efforts of Lisa Mikula, and the generosity of Mrs. Patricia Gampico and the Class of 1987 for establishing this award in memory of Jennifer Gampico. I now welcome Lisa Mikula, John Schmitt and Dave Valovage to present the award."We recognize the efforts of Lisa Mikula, and the generosity of Mrs. Patricia Gampico and the Class of 1987 for establishing this award in memory of Jennifer to this year's recipient: Joan Dotchel

21. The Daniel Trotter Memorial Award for Music is given by Mrs. Peg Trotter in memory of her husband. The award is given to students who have within their hearts the love of music that Mr. Daniel Trotter exuded day by day in his life. This award is presented to Ashley and Lauren Yost

22. The Regina Coeli Award is presented by the Knights of Columbus to altar servers for their dependability and fidelity in assisting at the altar for school related liturgies. The Regina Coeli Award is presented to Angela Farinella and Anthony Mongeluzi IV
