CLASS OF 2018 SCHOLARSHIPS
 Congratulations to members of the Class of 2018
in earning $370,000.00 in scholarships!
 

SCHOLARSHIPS: 

Autumn Andrejczak was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Nazareth Academy High School in the amount of $2500 per year for four years.

Elizabeth Bowe was awarded an Early Candidate’s scholarship for $2000 per year for four years and an academic scholarship in the amount of $10,000 per year for four years to attend Villa Joseph Marie High School.  Saint Basil Academy awarded Elizabeth a $5000 Excellence Award per year for four years. Elizabeth was awarded the Principal’s scholarship from Nazareth Academy High School for $10000 per year for four years.

Sarah Burns was awarded an award of $7500 per year for four years to attend Mount Saint Joseph Academy. Saint Basil Academy awarded Sarah a $5000 Excellence Award per year for four years. Sarah was awarded the Academic Merit Scholarship in the amount of $7000 per year for four years.

Jeremy DeLia was awarded The Cahillite Scholarship a four year $1500 award to attend Roman Catholic High School.

Kathleen Harmon  was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Nazareth Academy High School in the amount of $8000 per year for four years. St. Basil Academy awarded Kathleen an award in the amount of $6000 per year for four years.

Annaliese Hencek was awarded the Honors Scholarship in the amount of $6500 per year for four years to attend Nazareth Academy High School.  Saint Basil Academy awarded Annaliese a Merit Award in the amount of $1500 per year for four years.

Alexandrea Kirby was selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Order Sons of Italy in America to receive a scholarship

Sophia Montanez  was awarded the Honors Scholarship in the amount of $6500 per year for four years to attend Nazareth Academy High School.  Villa Joseph Marie High School awarded Sophia with an academic scholarship in the amount of $4000 per year for four years.  Sophia was awarded a Merit Award in the amount of $1500 per year for four years by Saint Basil Academy.

Delani Ritter was awarded an academic scholarship to attend Nazareth Academy High School in the amount of $2500 per year for four years.

Cristina Rodriguez was awarded the 2019 Nazareth Academy High School Blessed Frances Siedliska Community Service Scholarship valued at $1500 per year for four years and the Inn Dwelling Scholarship to attend Nazareth Academy High School valued at $3000 per year for four years. Bishop Mc Devitt High School awarded Cristina a $1000 President’s Scholarship per year for four years.  

SPECIAL AWARDS: 

The Nazareth Academy Grade School Parent Association awards a grant to two graduates who have achieved the highest and second highest grade point average through sixth, seventh and the first two trimesters of eighth grade.  This grant valued at $500 will be paid directly to the high schools that the students will attend.  The 2018 recipients of these grants are: Sarah Burns and Kathleen Harmon

 

 

To be eligible for the President’s Award for Academic Excellence students must maintain a grade point average of 90 or above in grades 6, 7, and 8th grade, as well as high achievement in the areas of reading and mathematics in the 6th and 7th grade Terra Nova tests.  The students who merit this award are: Elizabeth Bowe, Madison Buck, Sarah Burns, Kurt Geiger, Kathleen Harmon, Annaliese Hencek, Sophia Montanez, Olivia Montini, and Delani Ritter

 

 

 

The Nazareth Academy Grade School Academic Excellence Award is presented to those students who have maintained an average of 94% or above as an average in their 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years as well as high achievement in the areas of reading and mathematics in the 6th and 7th grade Terra Nova tests.  These students are: Elizabeth Bowe, Sarah Burns, Kathleen Harmon, Annaliese Hencek, and Sophia Montanez

 

The Sister M. Celeste Memorial Scholarship is presented to a student who, like Sr. Celeste, demonstrates outstanding leadership skills, takes pride in her work and appearance, and possesses a love for reading and learning.  The Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School is pleased to present this scholarship in memory of Sister Celeste to Autumn Andrejczak

 

The Principal’s Award is given to a graduate who consistently utilizes leadership and talent in service to the school. We are pleased to present this award to Maggie Miller

 

Frances Siedliska, Foundress of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, was a woman of deep faith, untiring service, and heartfelt Christian charity.  In recognition for the consistent witness to the true spirit of Christian service, the Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd Award is presented to Elizabeth Bowe and Patrick Driscoll 

 

The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania honors two students from the graduating class of 2018 for their scholastic excellence and their commendable community service.  These students are Sarah Burns and Delani Ritter

 

The Citizenship Award is given by the school to students who display an understanding and appreciation of civic responsibility, possess strength of character and the courage to do what is right, show a positive attitude toward classmates, school, and community, and engage in community service.  The Citizenship Award is presented to Sarah Burns, Patrick Driscoll. Kathleen Harmon, and Alexandrea Kirby

 

In keeping with the tradition of awarding students for determination and joyous spirits,The Nazareth Academy Faculty, presents gift cards to students in the Class of 2018 to reward achievements made throughout their grade school education.  The students who have been chosen for this award are Madison Buck, Jeremy DeLia, and Tyler Juskalian, Olivia Montini

 

 

The Ali Award, in memory of Alexandra Duzinski, Class of 1995,  is sponsored by the Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School to a student who exhibits the zest for life that Ali had during her short time among us.  This award is presented to Alexandrea Kirby

 

The Phillip P. Gaughan Memorial Award is sponsored each year by Mrs. Mary Gaughan in memory of her husband, Philip. This award is given to the student who best displays a kind, conscientious attitude toward peers.  This award is presented to Charles Walker

 

The Grace Stinson Memorial Award is sponsored each year by Mrs. Kathleen Culp in memory of her mother, Grace. This award is given to a student who possesses the qualities that defined Mrs. Stinson’s life, namely her straightforwardness and fortitude.  This honor is given to  Kayla Micheloti

 

 

The Jennifer Culp Roman Memorial Award is sponsored by Jennifer’s sisters, Maggy, Kate, and Emily in memory of their sister. Jennifer was a daughter, sister, mother and friend whose deep faith, great courage, unwavering love, and unrelenting willpower enabled her to succeed in school as well as have a profound effect on all those whose lives she touched.  This award is given to a student who emulates those distinctive qualities of Jennifer. This award is given to Maggie Miller

 

The Make a Difference Award is sponsored by the Administration of Nazareth Academy Grade School in memory of Susan Toto, a woman who made a difference in lives of many by her selfless giving. This award is offered to a student who, through service, dedication, commitment, and attitude has made a difference in our Nazareth school community.  This award is presented to Kathleen Harmon

 

The Sara LaSalle-Tarantin Memorial Award is sponsored by Mr. Jack Tarantin in memory of his wife, Sara. This award is given to a former student of Alpha House whose strength of character emulates Mrs. LaSalle-Tarantin who gave witness to: ideals of kindness, patience, understanding and acceptance of others. The recipient of this award is Sophia Paschall

 

 

The Father Bob Votta Memorial Award for Excellence in Spanish is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drennen and is presented to a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in the study of the Spanish language and culture. This year the Award is presented to Kathleen Harmon

 

The Believe in Yourself Performing Arts Award is sponsored by Miss Madeline Pontarelli Class of 2012It is given to a student who gives their all in the school plays despite peer pressure and other obstacles.  At this time I invite Madeline to present her award.  This award is presented to Sarah Burns

 

The Kathleen Smith Memorial Award for Excellence in Forensics is being sponsored this year by Mr. and Mrs. Henri Marcel in honor of Mrs. Kathleen Smith, a woman who was devoted to education, believed in each of her students, and nurtured a love for public speaking. This evening, Mr. Henri Marcel will present this award in memory of Mrs. Smith. Recipient: Logan Riti

 

Jennifer Gampico Memorial Award for a student who excels in science, arts or leadershipThe Jennifer Gampico (Class of 1987) Memorial Award is given to a student who displays leadership qualities and excels in Science and the Arts.  We recognize the efforts of Lisa Mikula, and the generosity of Mrs. Patricia Gampico and the Class of 1987 for establishing this award in memory of Jennifer Gampico.  Recipient: Sophia Montanez

 

 

The Daniel Trotter Memorial Award for Music is given by Mrs. Peg Trotter in memory of her husband.  The award is given to students who have within their hearts the love of music that Mr. Daniel Trotter exuded day by day in his life. This award is presented to Logan Riti

 

The Regina Coeli Award is presented by the Knights of Columbus to altar servers for their dependability and fidelity in assisting at the altar for school related liturgies.  The Regina Coeli Award is presented to Annaliese Hencek

 

The Distinguished Graduate Award is given annually to a graduate of Nazareth Academy Grade School that has distinguished herself or himself in scholarly or research pursuits, in the community, or in society at large.  We are honored that Nancy Morozin, Class of 1970, has accepted this nomination to recognize her leadership in the local community and world as co-owner of The Dining Car restaurant. In her current role as the 2018 Consulting Chair of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, her leadership has made an impact on our neighborhood through her involvement in networking, economic development and government relations. Ms. Morozin is also a member of the Les Dames d’Escoffier International, a world-wide, invitation-only philanthropic society of professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage and hospitality.
